Holsten Weizen traditionally originates from Bavaria, which has long been a favorite beer among local beer lovers. The German beer purity law of 1516, which was made up of rules for beer producers in Germany, stipulated that wheat beer (Weiss beer) should contain at least 50% wheat malt. That law is still respected today in the production of Holstein Weizen.
